There’s that well worn adage,“Better to light a candle than curse the darkness”. So true.
WOW is doing just that even though we’re a small candle in Ukraine. Our vision is to care for at risk orphans and widows in Jesus’ name. For 22 years we’ve been doing so in Sub-Saharan Africa and India. Through a comprehensive Home Based Care commitment we’ve partnered with local church based champions and volunteers impacting tens of thousands over two decades. The local pastor/church relationships have been key.
Indeed, one cannot do any sustainable ministry without that network.
When the Ukraine crisis struck I was immediately motivated to connect with a church network in Ukraine and Poland with whom I had a strong relationship through a long time pastor friend working out of Slovakia. Very quickly we began to light that candle.
A modest but substantial amount of support for the displaced Ukrainian orphans and widows was sent from WOW within a week of our commitment. Subsequently the Lord has provided more funds and we’re now helping about 500 desperate souls in their daily food needs as they transition to Poland and beyond.
We’re getting regular updates and it’s very humbling to see that our little light is doing its part in a very dark time.
